Welcome to our new Editor in Chief

We are delighted to announce that the new Editor in Chief of The Polyphony is Eva Surawy Stepney.

Eva has recently submitted her PhD in the Department of History at the University of Sheffield. Funded by the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities (WRoCAH), her thesis explored the historical formation of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and its intersection with the mode of reasoning (methods, practices, notions of evidence) employed by British clinical psychologists. She was particularly interested in the way in which psychological ideas of ‘evidence’ produced the conceptual architecture of OCD and the implications this has for understanding of psychic distress more broadly.

Eva has been an Associate Editor for The Polyphony since January 2022. She leads our Medical Posthumanities project, which reflects on and responds to the human-centredness of medicine.

You can explore the range of articles Eva has commissioned for The Polyphony here: Editor Archive: Eva Surawy Stepney.

Eva says: “I am extremely grateful to be the new EIC for The Polyphony. My vision is for a continued diversification of the types of works we commission and publish, through enhancing our ‘Polyphony Meets India’ project, forging connections with those in non-academic sectors, and experimenting with new and creative publishing practices.”

Eva takes over the role of Editor in Chief from Chase Ledin.

We look forward to working with you as Editor in Chief, Eva. Best of luck in your new role!
