A page of handwritten text and line drawings entitled 'Queering Research'. Beneath the title is a table with two columns. The left hand column is headed 'Moving from...' and the right hand column is headed 'Towards...'. Here is a list of the items in column one and its associated column two item: 1) Researcher = detached outsiders. We = passive subjects / Researchers = Us - experts by experience - we actively co-create knowledge; 2) Data collected in specific rigid forms, alienating methods / Data can be anything, flexible, adaptive, familiar methods e.g. sharing experience, creating things; 3) Research done on us, researchers own data, have power / Research with/for/centring us, collaborative, aware of power dynamics; 4) Rooted in normative assumptions, complex language / Open, reflects on assumptions, transparent and accessible; 5) Theories about us, obscure, presented as truth / Theory = 'everyday practice of analysing our personal experience within our social contexts, recognises multiple/contradictory truths; 6) Closed - seeking answers, explains our 'difference' / Open - asking questions, explores what those at the margins can teach everyone (else.g. about how sex/gender work, how 'normal' hurts us all; 7) Extractive = benefits researchers and institutions. Ethics = tick boxes to protect researchers/institutions / For our communities and future ethics of care (p.17). At the bottom is a drawing of five people holding hands in a line, one in a wheelchair and one holding a walking stick. The table has scattered across it, in zigzag framing, the words: creativity, comradeship, integrity, attentiveness, humility, irreverence, tenderness.
